His daily habits change as he begins to gravitate towards Nubsib.

While Gene remains the same crotchety grouch on the outside in the initial episodes, in the succeeding episodes he changes his behavior and habits as he grows closer to Nubsib. Even in private when he acts sweet, Nubsib can quickly flip to serious mode when Gene hurts himself (Gene spills boiling water on his hand and won’t stay still until Nubsib orders him to). Kao perfectly acts as the guard dog Nubsib who stays close to Gene at all times, creating a sense of almost guardian level presence. I get it, they aren’t politically correct, but he is a 21 years old with an old-fashioned mindset. Like I personally like how Nubsib loves to order Gene around (it’s cute). I don’t have a problem with these elements per se, as each individual is different and their negative qualities also make them who they are. Although, fans seem to have a “love & hate” relationship with these elements, they maintain the fundamental makeup of all the characters for better or worse. From assigning stereotypes to characters some find insulting (Tum’s effeminate acting as he pretends to be the make-up artist), to Nubsib’s controlling and possessive nature whenever he is around Gene (Nubsib loves to take over control, whenever he seemingly walks into any conversation that Gene is having with someone else).
#Lovely writer the series series
It is likely impossible to create a functioning series without the “problematic” or “toxic” elements, that the fans seem to love or hate. While most praise the series for the random shots fired at the approach, modern BL series display, I can’t help but notice it highlights the same things it demonizes. What I personally find interesting and at the same time confounding about this series is the writing. ( This review covers Episodes 2 to 7 so expect spoilers.) As the first episode ends, Gene finds himself at a conjecture to decide whether to let Nubsib move into his apartment or not. The series features the two set against the colorful backdrop of a BL television series called “Bad Engineer” based on the novel of the same name written by Gene. They might give us some special episode tho.The hit series “Lovely Writer The Series” has charmed hearts across the world with the sweet love story between overtly romantic young actor Nubsib and his crush on older grumpy writer Gene. It just won’t suit the entire aura of the drama to end with a sad thing or a cliffhanger. I don’t think there will be a season 2 or if there’s any need for it. They have a little time leap of 4 months right, so ig in ep 12 they’ll definitely show both of them reconciling. But I’m sure it’s not the end for GeneSib. Idk see much problem in the parents because both the parties have well agreed without anything bitter feelings.Īs for ep 11, seeing how Gene’s character is, the decision of breaking up suited it.

I also loved the part where Gene confronted Nubsib telling him that what he did to approach Gene (all that one month apartment settlement, not telling him that he already knew who he was, etc etc) was WRONG and I was happy that Nubsib too, accepted his fault.
#Lovely writer the series plus
Plus whenever there’s a problem or they feel uncomfortable, both the leads communicate and talk it out like actual mature ppl rather than crying over some presumptions. I love how they never leave a chance to expose and call out the toxic part of the BL industry and the BL fandom. But in this series, I’m glad they took the advantage of this and fed the audience with that bare minimum necessity of a relationship, that is, consent! This is the major focus of the series ig. Almost in every other BL, something bare minimum like ‘consent’ is always lacking which disappoints me so much. Idc if there’s some cliché, as long as they have such a consensual and respectful relationship, I am good to go. My views will be entirely based on the series.Īs far as I’ve seen, the series is a very good one. I haven’t read the novel and dk anything about it.

Idk why but I’m kinda sure that it will have a happy ending.
